Appalachian Yomp

CANCELED DUE TO COVID AND RESTRISTIONS

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Allied Forces Foundation is regrettably canceling the Appalachian Yomp this year. As we began planning for this event, we could not anticipate the emergence of new COVID-19 variants, ongoing travel, and restriction to the use of the Appalachian Trail due to COVID.

The Allied Forces Foundation thanks you for your support of both our non-profit charity and the Appalachian Yomp.  We trust you can understand the very difficult decision made to cancel this year’s Appalachian Yomp.  Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at ay@alliedforcesfoundation.org

We will be refunding your registration and any funds you may have raised but if you would like to donate your registration fee and donations we would kindly accept them and use them to support our Veterans and wounded warriors.

Please stay tuned for details on 2022 events like Cateran Yomp Scotland, Marine Corps Marathon DC,  Wizz Air Kyiv City Marathon Ukraine, and Silk Road Challenge Georgia.  We will be looking to have a new US-based Yomp challenge over the same period 2022.

Have you got what it takes to complete the Appalachian Yomp?

What is the Appalachian Yomp?

The Appalachian Yomp (AY) (a British Commando term for a long-distance march) is a new concept for the USA and is one of the toughest events you can find.

AY will be taking place on the 2-3 October 2021 alone on the trail of the Appalachian Mountains starting and finishing at Boulder Crest Retreat (CR) Bluemont VA teams tackle the challenge over 44 miles (gold) in 24 hours over the tough terrain of the Appalachian mountain wilderness. You can also sign up for the silver or bronze distances (34 and 22 miles respectively).

Why Take Part?

Sign up with friends, family, and colleagues to experience an unforgettable weekend whilst raising money for wounded, ill, and injured (WII), caregivers, active duty and veterans, and their families. Whichever distance you choose, you will get to test both your physical and mental limits whilst trekking through some truly breathtaking scenery.

Don’t worry if you don’t have a team, any individuals or pairs will be grouped together with individuals of similar abilities. Check out our facebook page to connect with others who will be Yomping the amazing trail.
